Michael Voegele

Michael Voegele is Chief Technology Officer of Philip Morris International. Before joining PMI in 2019, Mr. Voegele was working for Adidas from 2011 to 2018. There, he first served as VP Group Functions and Head of Enterprise Architecture and went on to become Senior Vice President IT Sales. From 2015 he served as Global Chief Information Officer, and was appointed to the Adidas core leadership team in January 2017. In this role, he initiated the digital transformation of Adidas and reshaped the IT Organisation and Strategy, making it more consumer centric and supportive of innovation throughout the company. Mr. Voegele holds an engineering degree from Universität Karlsruhe in Germany.

At the Virtual CIO Symposium, Michael Voegele will discuss the CTO role in the business and digital transformations taking place at Philip Morris International, and what the future holds for tech in business in the new virtual and hybrid enterprise environment.

Åshild Hanne Larsen

Åshild Hanne Larsen is CIO and SVP of IT at Norwegian energy giant Equinor, formerly Statoil, where she focuses on creating business value from IT and enabling the company's digital transformation. With the company for more than 25 years, Åshild Hanne Larsen was appointed CIO in 2015, and was named CIO of the Year Europe in 2019 by an independent jury. She has also held roles in Downstream IT, leadership development and in HR in some of Equinor's key technology areas. Her first role at the company was as an off-shore catering assistant on the Gullfaks B oil platform in the North Sea.

Ms. Larsen was named PetroLady of the year 2017 and is a Nordic CIO of the Year 2018 nominee. She won the Leader of the Year award 2019 at Norway's SHE conference, Europe's largest gender equality conference, and was also named one of Norway's 50 leading Women in Technology 2019.

She is Chair of the Board of Trustees of the International School of Stavanger.

Theo Blackwell

Theo Blackwell was appointed in 2017 as London's first Chief Digital Officer to lead on London-wide digital transformation, data and smart city initiatives at City Hall. Since then he has developed the Smart London Together Roadmap (2018) and initiated a series of programmes to build London's collective capability for innovation including the establishment of the London Office of Technology and Innovation, the Mayor's Civic Innovation Challenges and the Connected London Programme for fibre infrastructure. Theo is currently supporting the city's Recovery programme, developing a new London Datastore and a city-wide Charter for Emerging Technology.

Charles Ewen

Met Office CIO Charles Ewen is responsible for the development and implementation of the organisation's ICT Strategy and for the internal technical teams within the Technology Information Services Directorate - and works closely with the Met Office Science teams to operate our High Performance Computing capability. The Met Office relies heavily upon cutting-edge IT to improve the quality of forecast services and increasingly to make those services accessible and effective for customers and the public.

Ewen has worked for the Met Office in a number of senior technology roles since 2008 and, prior to that worked in the B2B online retail and distribution industry. Ewen started his career as an Electronics Engineer in the defence industry.

Edward Qualtrough

Edward Qualtrough is the Technology Editor of New Statesman Media Group and has a particular interest covering digital strategy, leadership, enterprise culture, diversity and the implementation of emerging technologies. An events host and podcast producer, Edward was previously Editor of CIO UK and meets regularly with Chief Information Officers and other business technology executives to discuss C-suite challenges, industry trends and disruptive threats.​

Claudia Glover

Claudia Glover is a staff reporter on Tech Monitor. Previously the co-founder and producer of a London-based theatre company, Claudia joined Tech Monitor after finishing her MA in journalism at Goldsmiths, University of London. Claudia has a long-standing interest in public policy and technology.

Mike Beck

Mike has 10 years’ experience as operational advisor and delivery lead for a range of national security programmes in the UK government. With vast experience of consulting on tactical cyber defense, he oversees the support and training of Darktrace client's post-implementation. Prior to joining Darktrace in 2014, Mike also served as a GovCERT UK practitioner, defending against a wide range of cyber threats. Mike was also deployed as a civilian advisor to a number of active operational commands within the UK military. He holds a first-class degree in Computer Science from the University of Plymouth, and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and a GIAC Incident Handler.
